Explore poetry both through and in the outdoor world. Working with curated poems by eco-poets and poets who use the natural world as their primary muse, in this hands-on workshop on the Elizabeth River Trail. Participants will hear the “voices” in nature and develop their ecopoetic voice in response to the surroundings.

We will be able to observe, identify, and describe the inspiration for nature poems, while matching the sounds and rhythm of lines to the sounds and rhythm of the nature around us. We’ll read contemporary eco-poets, and discuss the ability of poems to reflect the behavior and conscience of a culture/society regarding its respect for and stewardship of the land.

Free and open to the public.
