Conduct Research or Creative Projects in Northern Europe: Fellowships for Americans in the Nordic Countries
The American-Scandinavian Foundation (ASF) is accepting applications for its 2027–28 Fellowships for Americans in the Nordic Countries. These fellowships support graduate students and academic professionals pursuing research or creative arts projects in the Nordic region.
Fellowship Opportunities
ASF offers:
- Long-term fellowships: 4–12 months, with awards of up to $23,000
- Short-term fellowships: 1–3 months, with awards of up to $5,000
Fellowships are available in all fields and are intended primarily for graduate students, particularly for dissertation-related research, as well as academic professionals.
Eligible projects may be conducted throughout the Nordic region, including:
Denmark, the Faroe Islands, Greenland, Iceland, Finland, Norway, Sweden, and Sápmi.
Application Deadline: November 1, 2026
The ASF application requirements are similar to those for the Fulbright Program, making this an excellent opportunity for applicants who are already preparing a Fulbright application. Applicants may be able to adapt their Fulbright materials for the ASF application.
