About this Program

¹ú²úÂ×Àí offers a Doctor of Philosophy degree in education with a concentration in educational leadership. This program is designed to prepare educational leaders for a wide variety of professional positions in PK-12 administration and supervision and state and national policy making arenas. The goal is to prepare professionals who possess the knowledge and skills needed to provide leadership and to produce meaningful change in educational organizations with the underlying premise of social justice.

Program Highlights

  • The Cohort is designed for educational leaders working full-time in PK-12 schools, divisions, and other educational organizations. PK-12 school leaders take classes as part of a cohort in which students discuss and research educational problems of practice and policy. Course content is designed to help students use research, theory, and their own professional expertise to advance organizational change in their own organizations

  • Our doctoral program courses are delivered two courses per night on Thursday evenings throughout each PhD cohort's program.

Requirements

What are the requirements to apply for Educational Leadership at ¹ú²úÂ×Àí?
Students entering the Doctor of Philosophy program in Educational Leadership should meet the minimum university admission requirements Graduate Admission.
  • The PhD program reviews applications for Fall admission on an ongoing and rolling basis. The review process ceases once all cohort slots have been filled. Applicants seeking admission should apply as soon as possible, and applicants seeking funding are encouraged to apply by March 15 to receive full consideration.

  • Have a graduate grade point average of 3.00 overall

  • Provide three letters of recommendation

  • Write a one page, single-spaced essay that explains the applicant's qualifications, professional and career goals, and reasons for seeking the Ph.D.

  • Write a one page, single-spaced statement about a contemporary and critical issue facing educational leaders

  • Write a one page, single-spaced statement about an instructional and/or learning issue facing  your organization and the implication for school leaders and/or policy
